Europe's biggest McDonald's opens in Spanish holiday hotspot
The mega Maccies has just opened its doors in Palma de Mallorca Airport

Brits heading to Mallorca this summer will now be greeted by more than just sunshine and sandy beaches. They'll also find the biggest McDonald's in all of Europe, which has just opened at the Palma de Mallorca Airport.
This mega Maccies branch takes up more than 1,000 square metres and is packed with everything you'd expect and more: eight digital ordering kiosks, eight production lines, table service and a full McCafé setup.
The timing couldn't be better either. With around 750,000 British tourists visiting Mallorca each summer, there's no doubt this place will be flipping burgers and supersizing the fries non-stop.
You'll find this monster Maccies at Level P30 in Module A of the airport, right in the airside section. It's part of a big airport revamp aimed at improving the overall experience for travellers, with better security, more shops and now this impressive addition to the food line-up.
There is a catch though. This McDonald's is only accessible to travellers flying to non-Schengen destinations. That means that if you're headed back to the UK or another non-Schengen country, you're in luck. If you're connecting to somewhere within most of mainland Europe, you'll probably miss out. Bad news for the tastebuds, good news for the diet.
The opening has also brought a job boost to the area. Around 200 new positions have been created, adding to the 1,000 people McDonald's already employs across the Balearic Islands.
Chief Restaurant Officer of McDonald's Spain Ángel Castillo said: “This opening represents a new milestone and another example of our commitment to the Balearic Islands."
He called the region "an area of strategic interest for the company where we already have over 20 restaurants".
The spokesperson continued: "We are thereby contributing to the Spanish economy and the creation of quality employment, fulfilling our mission of supporting the communities where we operate."
Worldwide, McDonald's has more than 43,000 locations in over 100 countries. But if you're wondering where the biggest one on the planet is, that title still goes to Orlando, Florida. The Epic McD there covers a whopping 19,000 square feet and even has arcade games and a pizza station.
