This 19th century building was constructed under the supervision of architect Justo Millán Espinosa, who drew up the plans in 1888 and is also responsible for such iconic buildings as the Palacio Provincial in Albacete and the Teatro-Circo Villar, the Teatro Romea and the bullring in Murcia, as well as other bullrings in Lorca, Cieza, Abarán and Algiers.
The casino building was one of the most important local social and cultural centres prior to the Spanish Civil War (1936-39), occupying an area of 600 square metres. It was then taken over by Francoist organizations until the end of the dictatorship in 1975.
Following the restoration of democracy in Spain it was fully refurbished and is now in use as the municipal music school of Yecla, including 14 classrooms, a rehearsal room, a recording studio and two recital rooms. On the first floor is a “salón de actos” which seats up to 150 people, and this is used for concerts.
Address: Calle España 12
