Click HereWork is now beginning in Águilas on the last section of the pedestrian and cycle lane which is to run between the town centre and Calabardina, with the document which will allow the project to go ahead having been signed in the presence of councillors Tomás Consentino and Cristóbal Casado this week.
The project, 80 per cent of which is financed by the European Regional Development Fund, is part of the Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development strategy in Águilas and consists of the creation of adjoining lanes measuring 2.30 metres and 1.20 metres in width for cyclists and pedestrians respectively.
The section on which work is now starting will reach kilometre 0.923 on the RM-D15 road between Águilas and Calabardona, at the start of the Playa de la Cola beach, and from here both cyclists and walkers will be able to continue safely to the centre of Calabardina on the unpaved track along the shore.
