Between the 3rd and 24th November on Saturdays and Sundays between 12 midday and 4pm, tapas and a drink are on offer at 2.50 euros in what are known as the "Pedanías Altas de Lorca" area.
These are the areas of the Lorca municipality outside of the main urban city which occupy the higher plains between Lorca and Caravaca de la Cruz, namely La Paca, Zarzadilla de Totana, Doña Inés and La Parroquía, as well as one in each of Avilés, Coy, Zarcilla de Ramos and Las Terreras.
There are 12 participants in the route and prizes are on offer for those submitting their route cards into a draw, as well as for the tapas chosen by participants as being the best.
The route takes the standard format: A route map can be collected from participating hostelries or the tourist information office, showing the participating establishments and the tapa they offer. Armed with the map, “taperos” select the tapa they would like to try, then set off and find the establishment, order the tapa and ask for the route card to be stamped as proof of purchase. There is no set schedule, taperos can visit as few or as many establishments as they want to, and the route can be revisited at any time during the promotion.
This route aims to really focus on local produce and the gastronomic heritage of the Lorca countryside.
Participating hostelries and their tapa: “Tapa Sorpresa” Bar Casino in Avilés, “Cachifuri” Bar Los Gemelos in Coy, “Mejillones a la antigua” Bar Temtempié in La Paca, “Donald” Pub El Pollo in La Paca, “Centralito” Bar Central in La Paca, “Pollo verde al Pedro Ximénez” Bar Churrero in La Paca, “Arepas rellenas” Bar Pepe in Las Terreras, “Tosta medieval” Bar El Medieval in Zarcilla de Ramos, “Croquetón casero de jamón ibérico” Bar Sape in Zarzadilla de Totana, “Mini Burger gourmet” Bar Los Nenes in Zarzadilla de Totana, “Parroquiano” Pub Oku in La Parroquia, and “Solomillo con salsa de almendras” Bar La Gasolinera in La Parroquia.
