ARCHIVED - Until 5th January, Christmas, New Year and Three Kings in Jumilla 2019-20
Music, cinema and plenty of entertainment for all ages in Jumilla leading up to the Three Kings parade on 5th January
The traditional parades, nativities and Christmas tree in Jumilla and the surrounding villages are joined on the official program for the festive season of 2019-20 by free cinema screenings and a host of other events between mid-December and 6th January.

Friday 13th December
17.00: Christmas decorations workshop using recycled materials at the Centro para Igualdad en calle Pósito.
19.30: 17th annual Christmas carol festival at the Teatro Vico – admission by invitation: contact the tourist office for more information.
Saturday 14th December
11.00 to 13.00: Christmas workshops in the village of La Alquería.
18.00 and 20.30: The first in a cycle of free Christmas cinema screenings at the Conservatorio de Música Julián Santos features Dumbo.
18.30: The Christmas lights are switched on in the village of La Alquería.
20.00: Charity concert to raise funds for the cancer charity AECC featuring Mariola Alcocer and D’Colores Band at the Casa Misionera de San José.
Sunday 15th December
11.30: The opening speech of the Christmas fiestas is given by José María Zaragoza Hernández at the parish church of El Salvador.
20.00: The Julián Santos music society’s Christmas concert at the Teatro Vico. Tickets 2/4/5 euros.
Thursday 19th December
20.00: Sports gala at the Espacio Cultural outside the Mercado de Abastos food market.
Friday 20th December
19.00: The Christmas lights are switched on in the district of San Juan.
Saturday 21st December
10.00 to 13.00: Christmas tree decoration workshop and the traditional “Juego de la Oca” game in the Jardín de San Antón.
11.00: Tree decoration and delivery of letters for Father Christmas in the village of Fuente del Pino.
18.00 and 20.30: The second free Christmas cinema screenings at the Conservatorio de Música Julián Santos feature Bohemian Rhapsody.
20.15: “Música entre Belenes”, a carol concert by the clarinet and voice quartet of the Julián Santos music society and students at the Santa Ana school, coinciding with the official opening of the “Ruta de los Belenes”, a route of nativity scenes in Jumilla. The concert is at the Santa Ana school.
21st December to 7th January
The Ruta de los Belenes is open.
Sunday 22nd December
10.00 to 13.00: Tree decoration and Christmas concert in the Plaza de la Alcoholera in the district of San Fermín.
10.00 to 20.00: Artisans’ market outside the Teatro Vico.
12.30: Christmas concert by the Coral Jumilla Canticorum choir at the church of Santiago.
16.00: The Christmas tree lights are switched on and Father Christmas arrives in the Plaza de los Cipreses in Pueblo Nuevo.
17.00 to 19.00: The living nativity scene in the Plaza de la Constitución.
Tuesday 24th December
18.00: Father Christmas parades through the village of Fuente del Pino.
Wednesday 25th December
10.30: Ecuadorian Christmas musical parade starting at the church of San Juan.
Thursday 26th December
11.00: Fun and games for children and a charity breakfast in the Plaza del Rollo.
12.00: Concert in the village of Cañada del Trigo.
17.00: A tour of the Christmas trees of Jumilla starting in the village of Fuente del Pino and visiting San Juan, San Fermín, San Antón and La Estacada, with music along the way.
18.30: A musical version of Lady and the Tramp at the Teatro Vico. Tickets 6 euros.
Friday 27th December
The royal postbox is installed next to the nativity scene in the Town Hall for letters addressed to the Three Kings.
11.00: A children’s Christmas cooking workshop at the Casa de la Cultura, suitable for youngsters between 4 and 12. Details and registration on 968 780510.
17.00 to 19.00: A light painting show and workshop at the Espacio Cultural outside the Mercado de Abastos food market.
18.00: Christmas concert in the village of La Alquería.
18.00: Christmas sports outside the Teatro Vico.
Saturday 28th December
17.00: Mass and concert in the Capilla de las Dominicas organized by the brotherhood of the Santo Costado.
17.30: Charity Christmas run and fancy dress competition to raise funds for Cruz Roja in the Jardín de la Glorieta.
18.00: Christmas carols performed by various local choirs at the Capilla-Museo of the Cofradía del Rollo.
18.00 and 20.30: The third free Christmas cinema screenings at the Conservatorio de Música Julián Santos feature Aladdin.
21.00: Comedy monologues at the Teatro Vico. Tickets 5/8 euros.
Sunday 29th December
10.00 onwards: all-day shopping fair at the Mercado de Abastos food market, the Fiesta del Comercio en Navidad. This includes free concerts, tastings, prize draws with more than 100 prizes donated by local traders, concerts and family entertainment. There is also a refreshments zone with foodtrucks on site.
12.00: End-of-year concert by the Julián Santos music society at the Teatro VIco.
19.30: A charity concert of sevillana-style Christmas music to raise funds for the animal welfare group 4 Patas Jumilla at the Espacio Cultural outside the Mercado de Abastos food market.
Tuesday 31st December
11.00: The bells ring out 13 hours early for children in the Plaza de Arriba.
Midnight: The real end-of-year party begins in Fuente del Pino as the clocks strike midnight.
Friday 3rd January
17.00: Collection of toys for charity in the Capilla de las Dominicas.
Saturday 4th January
17.00: Letters for the Three Kings are collected by their royal pages outside the Teatro Vico.
Sunday 5th January
11.00: The Three Kings are officially welcomed by the Mayoress at the Town Hall and handed the magic key which allows them to enter all the homes of Jumilla during the night to leave presents.
17.30: The grand Three Kings parade starts in Calle Trabajo, continuing in Plaza del Rollo, Calle Cánovas del Castillo and Avenida de la Asunción.
