ARCHIVED - Torre Pacheco Council cedes land for construction of a storm tank
The land was purchased by the town hall for the project a few months ago
The town hall of Torre Pacheco has ceded 25,462 m2 of land which is located next to the Torre Pacheco Waste Water Treatment Plant (EDAU) to the regional government via the Consejería de Agua y Agricultura, for the construction of a storm tank reservoir that can store up to 66,000 m3 of rainwater.
The idea behind the “storm tank” is to prevent this volume of water being discharged into the rambla de El Albujón, and subsequently on into the Mar Menor, the idea being that the water can be treated and reused for agricultural irrigation.
The project has already been awarded at a cost of 2.5 million euros and construction is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks.
