While it’s technically not a heatwave, all of Spain is boiling under sky-high temperatures this week. There’s some good and bad news. The bad news is that the worst of the heat is still to come. The good is that once the weekend rolls around, the mercury will take a very welcome dip across Alicante province.

 

 

Thursday will be a cloudless day with soaring temperatures across the board. Extreme heat alerts have been issued throughout Alicante province from lunch time onwards. There could be a stiff enough breeze blowing from east and south in coastal areas providing a little relief.

 

 

The heat alerts remain active on Friday as the temperatures inch up to a sweltering 40ºC in parts. The day will be mostly clear, although the cloud cover will increase towards the evening.

 

 

Temperatures will begin to fall in the north of Alicante but a heat warning remains active along the southern coast from 1pm until 9pm. Saturday will be mostly bright, clear and sunny with some high clouds in the north.

 

 

More brilliant sunshine is forecast on Sunday, but it will become quite overcast in the northern interior later in the day, when there’s also a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Daytime temperatures will take a welcome dip across the board.

• Friday July 18: Min 23ºC; Max 40ºC
• Saturday July 19: Min 23ºC; Max 40ºC
• Sunday July 20: Min 21ºC; Max 37ºC
