The process of selecting companies to draft projects for the 4 major municipal asphalting projects reaches the selection point

More details have emerged of the proposed works planned for the dual carriageway running through Sectors C and D of the Camposol development, part of a 25-item, 10-million-euros urban renewal and improvement plan approved by Mazarrón Council. The drafting of the Camposol project is one of 4 projects which have been put out to tender, the full list being as follows:

• Lot 1: Drafting of the adaptation project of the streets Mar Báltico, Mar Cantábrico, Mar de Mármara, Mar Adriático and Mar de Filipinas in Urbanización Bahía, Puerto de Mazarrón;
• Lot 2: Drafting of the street adaptation project Río Mundo and Río Taibilla in Urbanización Bahía (Puerto de Mazarrón);
• Lot 3: Drafting of the draft adaptation of Calle Trafalgar and Calle Depósito in the San Isidro neighbourhood of Puerto de Mazarron;
• Lot 4: Drafting of the adaptation project for Avenida de los Covachos in Camposol.

Soon after the projects were put out to tender they became subject of a legal challenge by opposition PP and Ciudadanos parties and involving the College of Technical Engineers of Public Works, which was heard and adjudicated by the “Tribunal Administrativo Central de Recursos Contractuales” (Central Administrative Contracts Appeal Court) in Madrid.

The challenge was found by the court to have no grounds but a significant delay in the process resulted. Eventually the project was put out to tender again, attracting many bids from a multitude of civil engineering companies: 13 tendered bids for the Camposol contract.

On March 1 at Mazarrón Council’s Contracting Committee meeting the tenders for the 4 lots were adjudicated and companies were selected for all 4 lots based on a national points system.

The company selected for the Camposol project is based in Murcia and was also selected for Lot 1. The selected companies will now go through the scrutiny phase and if successful will be awarded the drafting contract which in the case of the Camposol project will have a timeframe of 4 months.

Once the drafting of the project is complete the resulting plan will be the blueprint for the tendering process to award the contract for the actual asphalting work.
