The Ministry of Health published its daily compilation of new Covid data published by the health services of the 17 autonomous communities of Spain as normal this afternoon and reported a considerable rebound in new infections during the last 24 hours, with 141 new cases.
This is almost double the quantity declared on Tuesday, which was 76, which was itself almost double the Monday total of 40.
These new cases bring the accumulated total of cases diagnosed by swab testing in Spain to 244,683, with 1,578 diagnosed in the last week, and 154 new cases showing symptoms in the last seven days .
The Health Ministry reports a total of 30 deaths during the last seven days, although the overall total remains at the same level as all of the last week at 27,136.
Much has been written on this topic and the Health Ministry continues to face pointed criticism for the extended period of time apparently required to match up the deaths declared by the autonomous community with death certificates and confirm the date of the death.
The Ministry continues to warn about complacency and reiterated its warning today that social distancing and hygiene measures should be observed at all times to minimise the risk of a second wave of the virus,"if there are further outbreaks which cannot be controlled we will have to return to the state of emergency, " the Health Minister, Salvador Illa, said today.
