ARCHIVED - Magoga restaurant in Cartagena only the second in Murcia to boast a Michelin star
Cabaña Buenavista in El Palmar already holds two Michelin stars
The Magoga restaurant in Cartagena has been named among the new recipients of the coveted Michelin stars, the first awarded in the city and currently only the third in the whole of the Region of Murcia.
Chef María Gómez was at the awards ceremony in Sevilla to receive the congratulations, although she was eager to share the credit with her partner and wine steward Adrián de Marcos, who has overseen a restructuring of the restaurant is service and image. One of the first to congratulate the new Michelin star holder was Pablo González, whose restaurant Cabaña Buenavista in El Palmar retains the two stars it has boasted for the last three years.
Following the new awards announced on Wednesday the 2020 Michelin Guide for Spain and Portugal contains 11 restaurants with three stars (the one new addition being Cenador de Amós in Cantabria), 36 with two stars and 194 with one star, Magoga featuring among 233 new names in this category.
There are also 302 restaurants named in the “Bib Gourmand” category for excellent combinations of price and quality, including 5 in the Region of Murcia.
