ARCHIVED - Alhama de Murcia street market returns in full on Tuesday
This includes clothing, shoes, household goods and food etc.
Those who enjoy shopping in street markets will be relieved to hear that Alhama de Murcia is re-opening its street market on Tuesday with a full complement of vendors, all 200 stalls of them, including clothes, shoes etc.
There are strict safety measures in place, so remember to wear a mask, respect social distancing, allow the vendors to serve you, use hand gel, try not to touch the products and give priority to the elderly and infirm.
Be particularly attentive if buying clothing as vendors are obliged to disinfect anything tried on by purchasers, so be understanding of their situation if you do want to try anything on; maybe just take a punt at the moment. It’s good to see them back as they’ve been unable to work all these months and unable to earn.
The market is being spread across additional streets, taking in calles Azorín and Lope de Vega so that stalls can be better spaced out and help shoppers to social distance.
If you are driving in, try to turn off into the back streets before hitting the main town centre and park in the area normally used for festivities, the recinto ferial, where there is usually plenty of parking as the main town centre is likely to be a little full.
The market centres around the normal plaza de abastos open market which is a permanent site open through the year. Click for map
