Alcaraz sets sights on Wimbledon later this month
The Spaniard is preparing to defend his Wimbledon crown after conquering Roland Garros

Carlos Alcaraz, fresh from his triumph at Roland Garros, is taking a brief rest before turning his focus to the grass courts of London. The 22-year-old from Murcia will soon begin his campaign at Wimbledon with a historic challenge ahead: to extend his supremacy across Europe’s Grand Slam tournaments.
Having now lifted titles in the last four editions contested between Roland Garros and Wimbledon, Alcaraz is aiming to become the undisputed king of the European Grand Slams. His five-set comeback victory over Jannik Sinner in Paris this past weekend marked not only his resilience but also the pinnacle of a superb clay-court season.
Alongside the French Open, he secured titles in the Monte Carlo and Rome Masters, despite missing Madrid due to injury and narrowly losing a hard-fought final in Barcelona to Holger Rune.
Grass, though less familiar territory, has become a fruitful surface for Alcaraz. With 24 wins in 27 career matches on grass, he boasts the highest win percentage on this surface among active players. His accolades already include Wimbledon titles in 2023 and 2024 – both against Novak Djokovic – and a Queen’s Club victory in 2023, where he defeated Alex de Miñaur in straight sets.
The upcoming 2025 Wimbledon Championships, being held from June 30 to July 13, present a new milestone for Alcaraz. With preparations underway, he and his team will travel to London later this week to begin training at Queen’s before heading to the All England Club, where he will compete for the fifth time.
In 2023, Alcaraz edged Djokovic in an epic five-set final, and a year later he repeated the feat with a commanding performance. Should he claim the title again in 2025, he will achieve his first-ever three-peat at a Grand Slam and extend his European major streak to five, a feat matched only by Björn Borg, who achieved three consecutive Roland Garros-Wimbledon doubles from 1978 to 1980.
Winning both Paris and London in the same year is rare and reserved for legends. In the Open Era, only Rod Laver (1969), Roger Federer (2009), Novak Djokovic (2021), and Alcaraz’s idol, Rafael Nadal (2008, 2010), have accomplished this double. Now, Alcaraz stands poised to join that elite group once again, with history within reach and momentum firmly on his side.
