ARCHIVED - 25th October to 23rd February, Antonio Tapia exhibition at the MURAM modern art museum in Cartagena
Modern art as a homage to midwives and women all over the world
An exhibition of work by painter Antonio Tapia is being held until 23rd February at the Museo Regional de Arte Moderno (MURAM) in Cartagena under the title of “Emociones cautivas”, allowing members of the public to see what is described as a homage to the artist’s mother and to midwives all over the world.
Tapia states that this is a collection of highly intimate works which speak of experience, mothers and women the world over, featuring not only paintings but also 6 sculptures, 3 videos, drawings, ink creations and a large backlit glass creation, many of them depicting what appear to be networks of neurons.
During the exhibition there will be two Saturdays on which workshops are held during the morning followed by afternoon guided tours, on 23rd November and 21st December.
Antonio Tapia was born in Murcia in 1965 and for many years dealt with far-reaching topics including time, society, memory and the imagination. However, since suffering a heart attack in 2007 he has become more introspective, drawing inspiration from the writings of Jung and others.
The exhibition at the Muram museum in Cartagena can be visited from Tuesday to Friday between 10.00 and 14.00 and from 17.00 to 19.00, on Saturdays from 11.00 to 14.00 and from 17.00 to 20.00, and on Sundays and public holidays from 11.00 to 14.00.
The museum is closed on 25th December and 1st and 6th January and opens on 24th and 31st December from 11.00 to 14.00 only.
